My fiance is a convicted felon foe conspiracy to manufacture meth. He was currently on state and federal probation when he got charged for possession of a firearm, he plead no contest to the charge. How can he receive the minimum sentence?

If he has not been sentenced, withdraw your plea and hire an attorney.  If he has already been sentenced your only option is to appeal the ruling.  You can appeal based on either the plea or harsh sentencing.  Nevertheless, pleading no contest is subjecting yourself the same sentence as pleading guilty.

What will happen if I get pulled over on a suspended license?

It is a misdemeanor and you will be removed from the car, your vehicle is immediately impounded, and you face possible fines of up to $500 and possible jail time of up to 180 days, and your license can be revoked for an additional six months.

What does deferred sentence mean?

A deferred sentence is a sentence that is suspended until after a defendant has completed a period of probation. If the defendant fulfills the requirements/stipulations surrounding a probationary period, a judge may then throw out the sentence and guilty plea, clearing the incident from their record.

Question: Am I going to jail for my first DUI?

Question Detail: I am on disability because I have crushed discs in my neck and other problems, and have been on medication for it. I hit a mailbox in Huntsville, and I passed the breath test. I was also given a drug test. Am I going to jail?

Someone got a DUI in my car!

What will happen if someone else gets a DUI in my car? Answered by Lawyer Christopher Beard in Birminghman, AL

My boyfriend and I live together and he doesn’t have a driver’s license. Last night he took my car very late at night (while I was sleeping) and ended up getting arrested. I’m fairly certain that one of two things happened. Best case scenario, he was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license. Worst case scenario, he was drunk and was pulled over for DUI and driving without a license. My main concern is that this will somehow impact my record or that I may get a ticket or something since it was my car, but I was also wondering what the consequences will be for him?
